Updating from 0.9.10.5 or earlier?
This version moves folders. Install over the version you have: your license, settings and projects carry over.
Updating never costs you your license. No new key, nothing to type in again, and every update is free. Coming from a much older build? It may ask to connect to the internet once.
Before you install
- Close your DAW and MIDISketch.
- Pro Tools: install the new AAX too.
- Update every computer you use it on.
After you install
- FL Studio: Options > Manage plugins > Find installed plugins before opening older projects.
- Other DAWs: restart, and rescan if it’s missing.
- Your files are in Documents > Eliotonic > MIDISketch. They move there by themselves the first time it opens (moved, not deleted).
- Windows: pin the app to the taskbar again.
Installed by hand, from a zip?
The plugins now go in an Eliotonic folder, so the new file does not replace the old one. Delete the old copy, or move it into the new folder.

Never keep both. A DAW may load the old one, and your projects would open in the old version. Every path: where files live.
Install it
A minute or two. Quit your DAW first.
- Double-click the downloaded
.exe. If SmartScreen appears, click More info, then Run anyway. - For Bitwig or another DAW with a note-effect slot, choose Custom installation and tick MIDI FX.
- Open your DAW and rescan plugins. MIDISketch is in your VST3 folder, under Eliotonic.
- Press Start My Free Trial, or Activate with your email and license key. It needs the internet once.
- Open the downloaded
.pkgand follow the installer. It is signed and notarized, so Gatekeeper lets it through. - MIDI FX for Logic is ticked already. For Bitwig, also tick MIDI FX for other DAWs (VST3 + CLAP).
- Open your DAW and rescan plugins. MIDISketch is in your AU and VST3 folders.
- Press Start My Free Trial, or Activate with your email and license key. It needs the internet once.
- Unpack the
.tar.gzand run MIDISketch, the standalone app. - For the plugins, unpack the VST3 or CLAP into
~/.vst3/or~/.clap/. - Rescan plugins in your DAW (Bitwig, REAPER, Ardour, Zrythm and others).
- Press Start My Free Trial, or Activate with your email and license key. It needs the internet once.

Updating
Run the new installer over the old one, with your DAW closed. Every update is free, and your license stays activated: no new key, nothing to re-enter. Projects and presets stay put too. Installed by hand from a zip? From 0.9.10.6 the VST3 and CLAP go in an Eliotonic folder, so delete the old copy.
